Why People Line Their Canary Cages With Newspaper

A close race does not always bring out the best in candidates. These words should have been the opening sentence for The Indianapolis Star’s endorsement of Kathryn Densborn not David Orentlicher. Any one who professes to be an ethicist and not only allows but applies the worst kind of campaign tactics and lies, shows some insight into the man whom they’ve endorsed. The Star’s reasoning for backing the Democrat just doesn't make sense. Orentlicher hardly represents the best interests of the District. He is a man who has disenfranched his constituents by missing crucial votes.

This professor and religious schoolteacher stymied the legislative process last year by walking out of the General Assembly. Talk about paying attention to vital issues. He has spent a lifetime in a classroom and is simply out of touch with the real world. Evidently The Star is impressed with the "expertise" he seems to have. Maybe they are intimidated by it or the trail of letters after his name. What is needed at the Statehouse is someone who has led a varied life not someone who lacks the day-to-day experience needed to solve the issues in the diverse 86th District. Has The Star Editorial Staff gone mad? Let's send The Star a message. Elect Kathryn Densborn.
